Rochelle is working hard to put their ideas in place for the Outdoor Reading Area which we hope will be up and running by the end of Spring 2017. This has only been possible because of all the hard work and fundraising from the FOGS Team. Thank you from us all.

School Council Autumn 2016

Hooray and congratulations to all our new Class Representatives.

We have already met to discuss the creation of our new outdoor reading area which the FOGS Team have been fund-raising for.

School Council had great ideas and they have now been passed on so that the Project can begin.

We are incredibly grateful to FOGS for making this possible.

School Council Report Spring 2 18.03.16

Friday 26th February 2016

At our School Council Meeting today, we discussed extra music that we could add in to our sound system. The representatives came up with the following suggestions for music ‘types’ that they would like added:
1. Theme tunes and featured music from films like Star Wars.
2. Daft Punk
3. Violin and Piano versions of popular music.
4. James Bay
One of the Representatives suggested that each class have a suggestion box where the class could place their ideas for school council as well as additional songs that they would like to have added to the collection.
We then discussed ways of getting more children to come to their Representatives with ideas. It was suggested that after lunch, classes could spend 5 minutes brainstorming their thoughts and then give these to their Reps to take to the next meeting.
Ms Cooper then explained that there are two main Projects that we will be working on over the next few months. Representatives were asked to come to the next meeting with ideas for these projects.
1) Quiet Reading Area to be designed to occupy the garden area next to the house. It is also planned that this will have a retractable roof.
2) Brochure and New Parent Information Folder. A company called Words and Pictures are coming in to work with the children and staff to create all the material so that these documents can be published and printed. This will begin in May after the Key Stage 2 SATs.

Wednesday 3rd February 2016

School Council had a very productive meeting yesterday discussing how they can make both lunch and break times run more smoothly. The Prefects and Head Boy and Girl are now working hard with their new jobs which include organising playground games and mentoring children from younger year groups; both of these jobs are working well.

Ways of improving communication between staff on duty was also discussed. Walkie Talkies were suggested and Ms Cooper said that she would look into this.

School Council Members have been asked to go away and think about the kinds of activities that could be introduced at lunchtimes that everyone would enjoy.

The next meeting will be held before Spring Half Term.
